Velo Baltica is the Polish section of the international EuroVelo R10 cycling route—a lap around the Baltic Sea spanning over 8,000 km. The Polish section runs along the entire coast, with Jarosławiec lying exactly halfway between Darłowo and Ustka—an ideal base camp.
What is Velo Baltica?
Velo Baltica is a series of cycle paths along the Polish Baltic coast. The route is 80% segregated from car traffic (asphalt or paved dirt roads) and marked with EuroVelo R10 signs. It can be cycled in both directions—from Świnoujście to the Vistula Spit.
Stages from Jarosławiec
🚲 Jarosławiec → Darłowo (15 km, ~1h)
- Profile: slightly wavy, easy even for families with children (10+ years)
- Surface: 80% asphalt, 20% paved forest road
- Attractions along the way: Lake Kopań, pine forest, beaches in Sulimice
- Destination: Pomeranian Dukes' Castle, Darłowo promenade, fishing port, cafes
- Perfect for: half-day trip - departure 10:00, return 17:00
🚲 Jarosławiec → Ustka (20 km, ~1.5h)
- Profile: very flat, easy
- Surface: 90% asphalt
- Attractions along the way: Ustka lighthouse, fishing port, mermaid statue, promenade
- Destination: Ustka - a larger resort town, many restaurants and attractions
- Perfect for: full-day trip — departure 9:00, return 19:00
🚲 Jarosławiec → Naćmierz → Łazy (10 km, ~45 min)
A shorter option for beginners or families with smaller children. The route leads through the village of Naćmierz (Museum of the Slavic Region) to the smaller town of Łazy with a wild beach.

- 🛠️ Small pump and spare inner tube (rental shops usually don't provide these)

- 👕 Windbreaker - it's often windy at the seaside
Cycling attractions outside Velo Baltica
There are also local routes around Jarosławiec:
- Around Lake Wicko (12 km) - a forest trail, perfect for an hour and a half bike ride
- Along the cliff - a short route (5 km) from Jarosławiec towards Darłowo, close to the cliff and with a view of the Baltic Sea
Practical tips
- Time of day: Morning is best (8-11) - less crowded, cooler
- Weather: Check the wind before you go - at 30+ km/h the cliffside trail can be rough
- Season: June-September is optimal. May and October are cool, but the colors are beautiful.
- Cost of a full-day trip: ~80 PLN/person (bike + food + entrance ticket to the castle)
