What to see in Jarosławiec in 3 days — complete 2026 itinerary

A practical 3-day guide to Jarosławiec on the Polish Baltic coast — lighthouse, beach, sunsets, Velo Baltica cycling route, restaurants and accommodation. Perfect for a long weekend by the sea.

Jarosławiec is one of the most charming seaside resorts on the Polish Baltic coast — 20 km of sandy beach between Darłowo and Ustka, a working lighthouse, a fishing port, pine forests and two large lakes. This 3-day itinerary covers the essentials: where to walk, what to see, where to eat, and how to make the most of a long weekend.

Day 1 — Lighthouse, beach and the first Baltic sunset

Start the morning at the Jarosławiec Lighthouse — a 33-metre tower from 1838 that's still active. The climb is 160 steps; from the platform you can see Słowiński National Park, the Wicko lake and on clear days the moving dunes of Łeba (~30 km panorama). Ticket: ~10 PLN. Opening hours in season: 9:00-19:00.

After the lighthouse, walk down to the promenade and the wide sandy beach. Jarosławiec beach is unusually wide (50-80 m) and never gets as crowded as Mielno or Kołobrzeg. Water temperature in summer: 19-22°C. There are lifeguard-supervised swimming zones marked with flags.

Lunch: try one of the smażalnia (fish-fry restaurants) on the promenade — fresh cod, herring, salmon directly from the local cutters, with chips and a tartar-style sauce. Expect 50-90 PLN per portion.

Evening: sunset over the Baltic. The sun sets directly into the sea here (the beach faces west-northwest), and the sky turns deep red-purple. Best viewing spots: the lighthouse pier, the new wooden pier on the promenade, or the dunes east towards Rusinowo.

Day 2 — Velo Baltica and the surrounding area

Rent a bike (most accommodation offers them, or hire from one of several shops on the promenade) and ride the Velo Baltica route — Poland's signature coastal cycling trail.

Recommended route: Jarosławiec → Rusinowo (5 km, classic amber-hunting beach) → return via the cliff path with sweeping sea views. Total: about 12-15 km, mostly flat, perfect for families.

Alternative: ride west to Lake Wicko (5 km), a quiet inland lake popular with birdwatchers and fishermen. The contrast with the open sea is striking — calm reedy water, herons, sometimes a kingfisher.

Afternoon: visit the fishing port — small but authentic. If you time it right (10:00-12:00) you'll see the cutters returning with the morning catch. The fish stalls are open until they sell out.

Day 3 — Lighthouse, museum and farewell to the sea

If you didn't climb the lighthouse on Day 1, do it now. Then drive to the Museum of the Sławno Region in Naćmierz (10 km from Jarosławiec) — a small but interesting museum with exhibits on the sea, amber, fishing history and local archaeology. Ticket: 8-12 PLN, visit takes 1-2 hours. Great option for a rainy day.

Afternoon: last beach walk, last photos, lunch at one of the cafes on the promenade. If you still have energy, browse the amber jewellery shops on the boardwalk — handmade pieces from local artisans, prices from 30 PLN for small pendants to 500+ PLN for larger pieces with insect inclusions.

Practical information

  • How to get here: The nearest train stations are Sławno (25 km) and Słupsk (40 km). Local buses run from both. By car is most convenient — ~5-6 hours from Berlin, ~9 hours from London via ferry.
  • Best season: June to mid-September for swimming. May and late September for quieter beach walks. Storms in autumn-winter (best for amber hunting!).
  • Currency: Polish złoty (PLN). 1 EUR ≈ 4.3 PLN. Cards accepted almost everywhere; small cash useful for fish stalls and parking.
  • Language: Polish. English is widely spoken at accommodation and restaurants on the promenade. German is also understood, especially by older locals.
  • Weather: Baltic Sea is windy year-round. Even in July evenings can drop to 15-18°C — bring a warm layer.

Why Jarosławiec and not Mielno or Kołobrzeg?

Jarosławiec strikes a balance between the over-developed resorts (Kołobrzeg, Mielno) and tiny villages with no infrastructure. You get:

  • A wide, quiet beach even in peak August
  • Good restaurants, shops and cafés
  • A real working lighthouse and fishing port
  • Easy day trips to Darłowo (castle), Ustka, Słupsk
  • No high-rise hotels — just low-rise pensions, cottages and B&Bs
  • About 30% cheaper than Kołobrzeg in peak season
