The parish church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Łąck is one of the oldest and most valuable religious monuments in the Postomino commune. It was likely built in the 15th century as a Catholic church, and after the Reformation in the 16th century, it was taken over by the Protestant community. After World War II, in 1947, it was reconsecrated as a Roman Catholic church.
The church features a structure very characteristic of Pomerania: a chancel built of Gothic brick (with fieldstone in the foundations), while the nave is constructed using the half-timbered technique—a wooden frame filled with brick and plastered. This hybrid structure reflects the medieval building traditions of Pomerania, where access to durable materials was limited and the local carpentry tradition was exceptionally developed.
The interior's greatest treasure is the original 18th-century polychrome coffered ceilings, covering the entire surface of the nave and chancel. Each of the dozens of coffers contains hand-painted biblical scenes, floral ornaments, and medallions with images of saints. The rich colors—red, blue, green, and gold—have been preserved in surprisingly good condition thanks to the interior's dry climate and low tourism.
Notable furnishings include the 17th-century Baroque main altar with a painting of the Annunciation, a historic pulpit with painted panels depicting the Four Evangelists, and a medieval sandstone baptismal font—dating from the 15th century, one of the oldest in the region. The choir gallery retains its original 18th-century polychromes with medallions of saints.
The church still serves as a parish today, with regular services held there. It stands in the center of the village of Łącko, surrounded by historic tombstones from the old Protestant cemetery (dating from the 19th century). Centuries-old linden and chestnut trees surround the church, creating a picturesque sacred and natural setting.
Łącko is a 15-minute drive from Jarosławiec, between Lake Wicko and the Baltic Sea. Visiting the church is possible by contacting the parish in advance or during Sunday Masses. It's worth combining your visit with a walk around the village and a trip to Lake Wicko (3 km).
